Website Redesign

Fix what is broken before it costs you more business.

Most website redesign projects are triggered by one of three things: the site looks visibly outdated, it is not generating enquiries it should be, or it has become impossible to update without a developer. We handle all three — but we start by diagnosing which one is actually the problem, because they need different solutions.

An outdated visual design and a broken user experience are not the same problem. An outdated visual design can usually be fixed with a reskin — new typography, new colour scheme, new imagery — without touching the underlying structure. A broken user experience requires structural changes: different navigation, different page hierarchy, different content strategy.

Before we design anything for a redesign project, we run an audit of the existing site: analytics review (if available), page-by-page content assessment, technical issues check (broken links, slow pages, missing meta), and a structured review of the navigation and conversion paths. The audit produces a prioritised list of changes. Sometimes the list is short; sometimes it reveals that a full rebuild is genuinely necessary.

For sites that need a full rebuild, we run the new site in parallel with the existing one until launch, ensuring no business disruption. For sites that need a reskin with structural improvements, we work from the existing page structure to minimise disruption to existing search rankings.

All redesign projects include the audit report, which clients find useful regardless of whether they proceed with us or another studio.

In practice

A Tuscan accommodation business had a website that was ten years old and not mobile-responsive. Their search rankings had been declining for three years. After a full redesign, organic traffic increased 94% in four months.

A professional services firm in Florence had a website that no one could update — not even the developer who built it. The redesign included a simple CMS setup so the team could manage content themselves.

Questions about this service

Not if it is handled correctly. We map all URL changes and implement 301 redirects, preserve existing meta data where appropriate, and carry over structured data. A well-executed redesign typically improves rankings rather than hurting them.
We assess each page of existing content during the audit. We keep what is working, improve what is close, and recommend replacing what is not serving the business.
